Summer School

It appears that non-fiction is the big focus (standard fare for summer school)

Supplies are spotty and text is skimpy.

THE PICTURE IS A CHART OF THE 4/5 BOOKS USED IN NON ESL CLASSES.
THE PROGRAM COMES FROM PEARSON AND AT FIRST GLANCE IT BLOWS.
The chart has all of the necessary correlations with varied comprehension topics and leveling-but there is very little content.

Rafael's class' curriculum focuses on Native Americans (particularly southwest). We have a lot of digital and print resources to support this.

My overall plan is to use clamshells on a rotating basis in upper grades.

Tomorrow, DV, Angel and I will load on the clamshells united streaming movies that I have archived that focus on native americans as well as some digitized episodes of Into the West. We will also try to create customized word response templates.

His units also come with audio tapes that stress rhymes and songs (I guess part of the ELL emphasis)
We will try to digitize these for maximum class exposure.

Marta's kids are working on ecology-no books yet

Adorno is using eye openers from Pearson (science and social studies)-stories are very brief

Will look for digital titles to support these
