One of my sources for regular nyc history info is not the gothamcenter, but the nytimes city section. Off the track from the "home" topic but definitely blogworthy is a series the Times is running as an interactive feature is the "Tribes of New York." Now wouldn't be imaginative to have a city social studies curriculum where each region had a yearly topic to explore for a citiwide history festival. Let's say one region would do "home," another "transportation," and another "people." A people topic could take the sub-topic of "tribes" which in the Times' series centers around groups of people with specific jobs or interests. Don't hold your breath.
