BUS KIDS' PERV PERIL
SICKOS ON WAY TO SCHOOL
By ERIC LENKOWITZ
February 5, 2007 -- It's every parent's nightmare - and every pedophile's dream.
As the city's disastrous school-bus shake-up goes into its second week today, many children find themselves waiting at bus stops alongside perverts and walking through areas riddled with sex offenders.
Take Keenan Dukes, 7, and his brother, Kimion Hughes, 9.
A yellow bus used to pick up the boys in front of their Bronx building at East 175th Street and take them directly to the Harriet Tubman Charter School a mere 11/2 miles away at 3565 Third Ave.
When their bus stop was discontinued - because they were the only two who got on at the spot - the boys' mother, Latovia Dukes, scrambled to find a swift way to get them to their charter school via public transportation.
What she found were only two miserable options cutting through a gantlet of convicted sex offenders' homes.
"What about some of the strange people trying to hurt kids?" asked Keenan, a bright-eyed second-grader who is well aware of the dangers around him. "People [might] try to take you somewhere."
Dukes, 29, said she's been with her sons every step of the way - despite the burden of added costs.
"I'm very upset about it. It's scary," Dukes said. "I don't want them getting on the bus by themselves, let alone walking down the block by themselves."

One option for Dukes and her sons is riding the Bx17 bus to the Bx35 - a route that includes crime-ridden Crotona Park.
At the 169th Street and Prospect Avenue transfer point lives David Cappa, who was convicted of sexually abusing a 7-year-old, and Kenneth Topping, who served jail time for molesting an 8-year-old.
Also lurking nearby are:
* Kevin Barr, a Bristow Street resident who was locked up for sexual conduct with a 7-year-old.
* Joel Walker, who lives on Prospect Avenue and did time for unlawfully imprisoning two youngsters.
* Rapist Gregory Richardson and his Franklin Avenue neighbor, sex abuser Dennis Warring.
The second option has the boys riding down Third Avenue on either the Bx15 or Bx55 buses after a transfer from the Bx36 across East Tremont Avenue.
Near that transfer point is cross-eyed sicko Victor Rivera, who was jailed for trying to sodomize a 14-year-old.
On this route, the boys could also come in contact with one of these characters:
* Kareem Price, who lives a block from the bus route on Fulton Avenue and was jailed for molesting a 9-year-old.
* Daniel Taylor, a Washington Avenue resident who lives a block from Third Avenue and was convicted of sexually abusing a 14-year-old.
* Robert Davis, Taylor's neighbor who was locked up for trying to prostitute a 13-year-old.
Dukes said that with these fiends running free, it is absurd that a school official actually suggested that the boys can ride the bus on their own.
"I have to ride the bus with them," she said. "Someone can grab them up if they're not with their parents. I can't take that."
The boys appear to have been taught well, saying they should never talk to strangers. They said they are aware that a creep could try to trick them into coming with him by pretending to have been sent by one of their parents.
But they may be no match for a sicko sex perv.

"The school said, 'Let your child ride the bus by themselves.' That's ridiculous," said the boys' dad, Andre Davis.
