Shtieblach Row On East Broadway

The pictures above I took in 2003 along the East Broadway block between Montgomery and Clinton. Rediscovering them now and linking them to the Knickerbocker Village-Epstein story gave me a good excuse to use an Ella track for a slide show movie. Looks like, as the song suggests, there's evidence my "cousins" crossed over to become Republicans.
Now that's blasphemous :)
The block is known as Shtieblach Row(small private houses of study and prayer that operated independently of each other with no fixed schedule or curriculum). There are many still-active small Orthodox congregations found in these former row houses and tenements. Several have been in existence for more than 100 years. On this block is found the tenement that the Epstein Brothers moved to after they left 78 Market Street.
They're listed here in the 1920 census. While they are on Market in 1910.
From here they went to PS 147 just a block away on Grand and Scammel.
