September 17th-Constitution Day

Based on the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2005 passed by Congress, every educational institution receiving Federal funding is required to hold an educational program pertaining to the United States Constitution on September 17th. The purpose of this event is to commemorate the signing of the Constitution on September 17, 1787. If September 17th falls on a Saturday or Sunday, as it does this year, then the program is to be held during the preceding or following week; that would be September 12th – September 23rd. Since this year’s date falls at the beginning of the ISTEP testing window, the Indiana Department of Education would suggest implementing your program the week prior, September 12th - September 16th. The Federal mandate does not endorse any particular program, activity, or website but does have a few resources listed for references." There were several posts in July about suggestions for studying the Constitution for this day. The book and film (available on unitedstreaming.com) by Jean Fritz, "Sh.. We're Writing The Constitution," was one that wasn't mentioned. Here's a clip from it.Another idea: Discuss the procedure required for impeachment
