But I’m also not surprised to see Cashman convince himself that yet another prospect was for real because he excelled for a few years against low minors competition where everyone was 2-3 years younger than he was. Sean Henn, anybody?

Joe Buck Dreams Of Ice Dancing
So he said on that waste of air time known as Centerstage with Michael Kay
As Usual: Just Blame It On A Yankee
There was every indication that conservative traitor John Roberts would act just like his similarly pictured tight lipped uncle Robin Roberts. Robin played most of his career with the Phillies, but had a brief stint as a Yankee. He threw right, but was really a "lefty."
Roberts was active in the formation of the players’ union, having been instrumental in the hiring of Marvin Miller as the first executive director of the Major League Baseball Players Association in 1966.

Brian And Rosalita
So is Brian a Springsteen fan with his choice of the Rosalita fake id for his mistress?
from the nypost
The batty British blonde accused of shaking down Yankees GM Brian Cashman revealed yesterday that he scored her fake identification — so she could quietly get an abortion. Louise Meanwell says Cashman knocked her up in June of last year, and was “unnerved” when she told him she was pregnant, according to papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court yesterday. Cashman “informed me that if I was to continue the pregnancy he would want nothing to do with me or the child,” Meanwell wrote in an affidavit. “When I informed Mr. Cashman that I decided to terminate the pregnancy, he demanded that I provide him with two passport-size photographs so he could obtain a fake ID,” the filing says. “Not only did Mr. Cashman obtain a fake ID for me in the name of Rosalita Gonzalez, he also took in finding a clinic to provide the abortion service and car service for me on the day of the procedure.

Another Side Of Yankees' Hope Week
Some of the Yankee players thought that they could have a shot at hoping. Being fans of mad men they thought they could replicate the recent offer made to Joan Holloway, aka
Christina Hendricks, for a night worth remembering.
Happy Birthday Derrick
Happy birthday, happy birthday, Derek
Oh, we love you so
38 candles make a very bright light
But not as bright as your baseball might
(as your baseball might, oh)
Blow out the candles
Make your wish come true
For we'll be wishing right along with you
(right along with you)
You're only 38)
But you still play great
(you still play great)
Oh you're the wiliest
Grittiest player when you come to plate
when you come to plate, oh)
38 candles in our hearts will glow
For ever and ever for we love you so
(For we love you so)
You're only 38)
But you still play great
(you still play great)
Oh you're the wiliest
Grittiest player when you come to plate
when you come to plate, oh)
38 candles in our hearts will glow
For ever and ever for we love you so
(For we love you so)

Is Hughes Or Is Hughes Ain't My Baby
Oh, I got a man that's tempts the fates
Be still my heart or will it break
But I love him
Yes I hate him
Will batters love to come to plate?
Or be confused by a curve's late break
Yes I want him
Yeah I intend to dump him
Can someone fix him?
Is Hughes Or Is Hughes Ain't My Baby?
Well, the way he's pitching lately, makes me doubt
Hughes was still my baby, baby
Seems like my flame in your heart, well it's just gone out
Phil Hughes is a creature
That has always been strange
Just when you're sure of him
You'll find that he's gone and made a change
Is Hughes Or Is Hughes Ain't My Baby?
Well, maybe Hughes can go to someone new
And we can get another arm that's much more true
Suzyn Comes To The Rocket's Defense: "He's Always Prepared"
While others mocked Roger's trial victory, Suzyn stood by her man.
They call Roger arrogant. That someone - and plenty of people are - would compare him getting his name on a plaque in a museum in Cooperstown to going to jail. That’s arrogance to me,” Waldman, the Yankees radio analyst, said. “Jail? Prison? Now that’s real life.”.......Waldman had some choice words about commentators with that particular opinion. The only ones fit to print in a family newspaper are “self-important.” Yet there was also an undeniable media consensus that the next “jury” Clemens faces, Hall of Fame voters, is the panel most important to him. And that he will be crushed, his life will come tumbling down, if he is not enshrined in Cooperstown. “You don’t think Roger Clemens is prepared for this? Waldman asked. “. . . You don’t think Roger knows some writers don’t like him for one reason or another? Roger Clemens is a lot of things but he’s not stupid.”

Is Reggie Jackson A Member Of The Tribe?
Looks like he recently took Ike Davis to school, or maybe shule. The results have been great. Since their June 10th meeting, Ike has hit over .400 with 2HR's and 9 RBI's.
from espn
Ike Davis said he received advice from Reggie Jackson on Friday, although manager Terry Collins noted listening to too many voices can further mess up a player. Davis' father Ron played for the Yankees. "I went to Old-Timers' games at old Yankee Stadium," Davis said. "And I got to meet Reggie a couple of times. And then in high school we had a workout with the Dodgers before the draft. And Reggie was there and I got to talk to him then. It's really the first time I got to see him since then. It's really cool that he recognized me. Obviously he's Reggie Jackson. We both went to ASU [Arizona State]. He's amazing. So it's great to talk to a guy like that." As for the nature of Jackson's advice, Davis said: "We talked about hitting -- just to slow it down a little bit. He gave me good advice. Nothing with swing mechanics or anything. It's just that you have to make contact and let the ball go out of the yard, not try to hit the ball out of the yard. It was good stuff."

Hughes, Stepped Out Of A Dream
with apologies to Phil
Hughes, stepped out of a dream
You are again wonderful
The future ace of the team
You found that old fastball of yours
Now far less gopher balls of yours
Batters denied big hits from yours,
Honest and truly.
Hughes stepped out of a cloud,
We no longer want you traded away
You make us so proud
We want you all to ourselves,
A pitcher with heart
For our Yankee team
Every fifth day to start

If The Tigers Sign Stephen Stills
Then they would reunite the singing group of Crosby, Stills and Young. But be careful that Delmon Young might screw up the lyrics of their version of Jayz's "Empire State of Mind"
