It was still politically Galicia, Austro-Hungarian Imperial Territory. He was culturally Polish and Roman Catholic by faith and left there in 1909 to work in France. He emigrated to Canada in 1915 and settled in Winnipeg. He had brothers. I would love to trace some of his siblings descendants if any survived the constant warring in this region.
